This year starts my eighth year as a 1st grade teacher at Stehlik Elementary. I taught 2nd grade last year and 4th grade the year before that. I graduated from Texas Tech University. I celebrated 36 years of marriage this month and love spending quality time with my family and loved ones. In my daily quiet time, I enjoy reading a good book while enjoying a good cup of coffee.

My name is Manuel Obregon and I am one of the first-grade teachers. I graduated from DeVry University with a Bachelor Degree in Accounting. I obtained my Teacher Certification through Region IV. I have been teaching for 15 years at Aldine Independent School District. I had taught kindergarten for 3 years and second grade for 12 years. Before I became a teacher, I had worked as a paraprofessional for 4 years at Houston Independent School District. I am ready and excited to start teaching this new school year.

My teaching philosophy stands on four pillars: a) teach what research says is the best method for the group of students you have, b) grow them emotionally, socially and academically, c) teaching stops when the teacher fails to learn, d) LISTEN.

My teaching approach: From Day 1, I set high, but achievable, goals for my students. We frequently discuss class goals as well as individual goals, then make adjustments when necessary. My instruction is rigorous, yet fair, and includes a balanced mixture of humor and hard work. I want my students to enjoy the learning process while also reaping the rewards of their successes
